He didn't need to be on the edge. A manic episode that advances into psychosis is plenty. God himself could have been directing his actions, and he would have believed it as reality.

He could have believed he was invisible, and had divine protection.

Psychosis is no joke.

True, Djack. I need to read up on that tbh. I know psychosis is dangerous.

I feel bad for his parents too. Omg this impacted so many. The individual killed woke up thinking they were off to a rally. Wow. Just wow. All family they left behind

Such a tragic event.

You can read up on it all you want, but unless you've experienced a psychotic event, there's no coming close to understanding it.

You will find that most times the ocd is the creation of the trigger. Most people have trigger points. It's not New. Keep pushing a person and they will react in what they believe rationally. Quite simple to understand actually. And yes I've seen psychotic big time.

I have about 3 manic episodes per year. Maybe 120 across the course of my life. Most are mild to moderate. About 25 were severe. About 7 advanced into psychosis between 2005 and 2013. My last severe manic episode was August of 2021. It was so bad, I had to contact a professional to keep an eye on me in case I needed hospitalization. Mania is an easy recovery. Psychosis is devastating and takes forever to recover from, and you never really fully recover. There's always some kinda permanent damage
