| DTBD - 2024-05-25 I agree with McNubbin as far as his Western civilization comment. The human race as a whole thinks it's so clever to now, when in fact we are one of the most unintelligent species in the universe. We make things fast and simple at the cost of human loss and destroying the earth and don't think one thing of it. That's not smart,and never was. |

| Huevographic - 2024-05-25 As a species we are quite clever in some ways. Our intelligence allowed to compete with all apex predators despite our relative physical limitations. Our opportunistic greed seems to inexorably lead to our species living in disharmony with the rest of the natural world. |

| Huevographic - 2024-05-25 I'm still reading it, StiffSplinter, but if you haven't already read "Empire Of The Summer Moon", by S.C. Gwynn, I highly recommend it. It gives tremendous insight into the the struggles between native peoples faced with Eurocentric expansion. |

| DTBD - 2024-05-25 I have heard of but not read McNubbin. Will put it on the definite list. Sounds a bit like, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by Dee Brown. Fantastic book. You read books like these and realise how much most humans miss the big picture of what, where and how we are in history. |
